- The Lanzarote Sessions
This is the eighth of the seventh series of Lanzarote Sessions, transcribed during a break to the Canary Islands in September 2024. During our frequent visits, I sit in the power of spirit at least once every day and allow the spirit connect to share a message with me.

When I read this session afresh for this presentation, I first thought the sentiments were explicitly aimed at me. They are. But then, everyone should also think about that.
A well-known phrase suggests we can often be too near the trees to appreciate the forest. Too many mediums, myself included, get so bogged down with the desire to be suitable mediums that we waste much of our time involved in the mechanics. We worry about our demonstrations, whether we will present evidence, or how we are being perceived. We worry about the strength of our connection with the other side, instead of living with the wonder of it all.
Here’s the thing – you’re reading this because you are already a medium. The level of competency is irrelevant. You are a medium, I am a medium, we are all mediums. Isn’t that exciting in itself?
Even in my retirement, I spend many hours working on my unfoldment and development each day. I am enthusiastic about my learning. I always have been, and I always will be. But I have a confession. Sometimes, this way of life becomes a chore. It can be all-consuming. This has been a highlight since I decided to produce this website. Even though I decided to walk away from schedules, I’m still inclined to want to have some. I put pressure on myself. With pressure comes stress. Stress serves only to make me question what I am doing and why.
Today’s message from the speaker is targeted at that very problem. Every medium I have ever known creates some stress in their mediumship work. They want to be the best they can be. They worry that they will underperform. They worry about their lack of available time, input levels, and results. While this is happening, they forget why they are mediums. Perhaps that simple query needs to be addressed more often. Perhaps it’s time to do a self-assessment and ask those probing and revealing questions of oneself.
- POSTSCRIPT
A few years ago, I stopped constantly asking for proof of another life. I accepted there was one and embraced that decision as a given. I was grateful for this speaker relaying today’s message to me. Even as I write these words, many weeks later, I can feel the power in the speaker’s words.
THE SPIRIT INSIGHT
transcribed on Monday 23rd September 2024 at 4:30 pm
You caused a few of us to laugh, a few moments, ago when you declared to your partner that “sometimes, life gets in the way“.
I mean, what else is there, but life itself? Has anyone ever reported back and said that no life is better? Anyway, I had to chuckle as you said it!
We knew you were coming to pen for us, so we were aware of your movements.
I want to ask you a question, which is more rhetorical this time.
What do you expect to get from sitting with the pen? What are your expectations and why?
This may seem a bit obvious, but people working with us would serve themselves well to take time and review their answers to those questions. You know there is this life after yours. You have some notions as to how it transpires and why. You trust that we can communicate with you, and some of you know you can communicate back. So, why continue to persist if you are so certain? What do you wish to gain from communicating with us? Is it wisdom? Is it a deeper understanding? Is it for curious reasons, wanting to know the science and the conditions of your life continuing?
You see, my good friend, there are many more people on your side of life that would
approach such a thing as an afterlife as miraculous, unbelievable, exciting, incredible and whatever superlatives you care to think of.
But are they the same expressions the mediums feel? Do you appreciate the true depth of your capabilities to unite these two worlds? Do you convey that expression to others about your work? Do you do so with excitement and definition?
Just because someone knows you are a medium, how do you assert that claim? Do you honour it with effort and conviction, or is it just a chore? A routine you follow?
We see mediums the world over in positions where they need to unite our two worlds with gusto, but do so with limp expressions of desperation, panic and determination to protect their fragile egos.
I could keep you for hours exploring how wonderful it is to know we live in a bountiful world of love and joy. I could make you envious of this life. I could fill you with hope and comfort that all your passed friends and family are here, more alive than they ever were on earth.
Would that inspire you to share this miracle with greater determination? Would you
choose to live your earth life to the full, knowing it really only is a stepping stone?
What are your reasons for this work? Have I given you some inspiring thoughts?
Is your philosophy reflective of your beliefs?
Go do this work with renewed energy and passion like you’ve never experienced before. Our greatest pleasure comes from letting you know that this eternal life is everything and more you desire. We will communicate with excitement and passion every single time. Do you relay that to others from your work?
Your earth phrase “go do your thing” is apt right now. But do it knowing the truth that only you experience from us. We are love. We are life. We are eternal. And you are those too.
Goodbye and thank you for penning my words so well.
MY AFTERTHOUGHTS
written at the time of this presentation
- Everyone who is serious about their mediumship should write the speaker’s first question in their journal and review it periodically. Reword it to reflect your chosen path of mediumship. “What do you expect from the spirit world, and why?”
- It is so true that we mediums often focus too much on the mechanics and the gathering of more evidence, that we forget about the wonder and the beauty of what it is we do.
- For the first five years of my mediumship path, I was unable to say to others that I was a medium. I didn’t feel good enough for that kind of declaration. But I worked on it, overcame my doubts, and got used to the notion that I was indeed a medium and proud of it.
