My Chapel

There is a place that is mine, and mine alone, where I go at least once every week. I have it exactly as I want it, both inside and out. Everything about this place is to my specifications, from the brickwork, the colours, the furnishings and the location.

It is a small chapel set in the countryside. To get to it involves a walk along the narrow private lane. At the end of the lane is an open area where my chapel sits. It is surrounded with flower beds, always packed with colourful blooming flowers of all shapes and sizes. The grass around the chapel is neatly cut and without weeds. There is a short gravel path that leads to the big arched chapel door.

The door is always unlocked. There’s no reason to lock it. Only I visit the chapel, because it’s my place. Outside, discretely hidden are sound speakers that transmit the sounds from wherever I have just come from. Inside there are the latest in sound cancelling technology speakers.

The inside of my chapel is quite large, probably 100ft square, if not more. I’ve never had reason to measure it. There are stained glass windows on most walls except the main wall. On entering the chapel, there is a feeling of warmth and comfort. Although sparse in trimmings and furniture, everything I need while I’m there is at hand.

In the middle of the empty room is a large armchair, the most comfortable chair I could imagine, decorated with a couple of new plush cushions for added comfort. There is an ambient music track constantly playing. Music of my choice. The noise cancelling system acts to remove the sound outside, set to mimic the noises entering my mind at the time I relax in my chair. The more I relax, the quieter the outside noise becomes.

I do invite guests to the chapel, and occasionally they come. It’s an open invite, come if you want to, or can. But not just any old guests. Mine are special guests.

Alongside the big chair is a coffee table where I have a glass of water at hand. The main wall in front of the chair is plain white, smooth and clean. Here is where I can project whatever I want to think about. A large white candle is always lit and sits on a pedestal in front near a small raised platform where my special guests appear.

I call this chapel my place of meditation. When I visit to meditate, the outside sounds of the world gently fade into the background, until I no longer register them in my mind. I am comfortable and want for nothing other than the energy from my chapel.

There’s nothing more to describe about my chapel. I stay for an hour and leave everything as it is for when I return again soon. Some might wonder where this chapel is and how I acquired it. The answers might confuse them, or leave them disappointed. Either way, I do not care, because this is my chapel, my place for peace.

The chapel is a figment of my imagination. Every detail, every aspect of it is nothing more than a vision of my mind. Yet I return to this chapel time and time again, for it gives me what I seek. An escape from the world outside it.

Those guests that visit there are my friends, now residing in the world of spirit. They are welcome and even if I don’t actually see them in the chapel, I know when they are there. Together we talk, share healing sessions, and share messages of hope, comfort and joy.

The most special thing about my chapel is that although this particular one is mine, anyone can have their own. Set in whatever landscape they want. Furnished to their liking, coloured to suit and containing whatever they want. All this costs nothing in financial terms, it is completely free.

Perhaps you’d like to invest some time in creating your own chapel, your own personal place where you go to meditate. All it takes is time and focus. When inside your personal place, allow the walls to slowly fade the sounds of the outside world away. Allow the time and space for your guests to join you. This will be your place, your chapel, your sanctuary. There for you whenever you choose to visit.

Perhaps the lane will allow you the space to settle for meditation as you see yourself walking towards your chapel or place. Perhaps the sounds inside will be your chosen music for the purpose of meditation. Perhaps your chair will be of your choice and the big white wall projects whatever images you choose. Perhaps you’ve created a place where your friends and family from the next life can drop in and say hello.

Enjoy your place, as much as I enjoy my chapel.
