My How To’s Book Ideas

I’m still searching for a way to make my first million! I’ve always had a bit of an entrepreneurial gene in me. Now in my mid sixties, after a lifetime of working for others and myself, I’m now in a position of being retired and yet still giving the dream of making a fortune space in my dreamy mind.

I don’t really take the notion serious enough though for it to ever become a reality, because I’ve more than a couple of lazy genes at work as well. I like my private life too much and time with my partner at home drives me most days.

I read an article from another entrepreneur the other day which had received millions of views, which is ironic when you consider the topic and title. It was called “How To Make a Fortune With How Tos”. The irony is that it was an “How to on How Tos“!

The premise of the article was about how everyone of us could produce our own “How To’s” on anything that we are passionate about, enough to want to share with others. Makes complete sense. I’ve always believed that if you’re confident about something, you can overcome nervousness and lack of confidence by taking about it with enthusiasm.

Anyway, I gave the idea some thought and have come up with a list of 5 ‘How To’s’ I could write passionately about. What do you think of these for my starters?

  • “How To Impress Your Partner By Making Sure To Start The Chores Just Before They Arrive Home”. They’ll be impressed to find you working!
  • “How To Avoid Making Evening Drinks Forever”. It’s a simple concept based on making one really bad one and claiming you did your best. This idea can be extended to DIY jobs, and other chores you don’t want to do.
  • “How To Guarantee Quilt Cover Throughout The Night”. Based on a technique of making sure to turn some of the quilt inward before laying on it, making it impossible for the cover to be removed.
  • “How To Get Out Of Emptying A Dishwasher”. The objective being to pretend to not know where stuff goes and leaving it piled up on a nearby worktop. This does annoy the partner and results in them not bothering to ask again.
  • “How I’ve Ran My Car For 12 Months On One Tank Of Fuel”. The technique being to make sure wherever possible you use your partner’s vehicle instead.

Given the time and space, I could have probably come up with a list consisting of 100’s of similar themed How To’s worth writing, including one on how to write an how to on how to books!

Am I onto something big?
