THE PREAMBLE

This is the forteenth session of the ninth series of Lanzarote Sessions, transcribed during a break to the Canary Islands in March 2025. During our frequent visits, I sit in the power of the spirit at least once daily and allow the spirit-connect to share a message with me.

|| This summary written on 30th July 2025 | 133 days after session

It’s all too easy for us to lack empathy and understanding when it’s about other people’s problems. We each view the world from our personal perspective based on our current circumstances. But they can, and often do, change with a moment’s notice. There are hundreds of people, for example, that this moment are with a medical expert for a routine test result, only to be told moment’s later that they have the big C.

That person’s perspective on life will change immediately as they realise everything has changed for them, just like that. I know that was an extreme example and somewhat dark, but I was trying to make a point about how our outlook on life is often far different than others.

I’ve always liked the phrase referring to “walking in the other person’s shoes” for a moment. But of course, it is flawed in doing so. Why? Because even with all the empathy thrown into trying, the individual isn’t wearing those shoes! The person’s comfort zone protects them and is always there, unless it is taken away.

The empathy for another person’s challenges is greater when one has gone through similar situations and come through them. Then, the empathy takes on deeper meaning.  Recently on our television screens we have witnessed thousands of starving children, on the edge of death, in Palastine. The images are inhumane, shocking and unjustifiable. Jane and I sit there on our comfortable chairs, with a tray on our laps, about to tuck into our evening meal. The images on the TV news serve only to make us feel guilty, empathetic to a degree, and guilty. We can never truly empathise with the situation, because we’ve not experienced such events. But we might, one day. All of us might. Every day challenges are thrown at individuals that only them alone have to deal with. Empathy, for them personally, carries little or no value.

I’ve gone through a lot of challenges in my life, but in hindsight none were really that terrible I couldn’t find a way through them. Everyone is the same. Even you reading my preamble have faced challenges that have immediately shaped who you are this day, for better or worse. Today as you read this, you may have challenges that seem impossible to overcome, but you will. Somehow, you’ll find a way through. The speaker in this session reminds us that life is full of challenges.

I wonder how many of us put as much effort into showing empathy to a fellow human as we ought to. My dad used to say that to walk in another man’s shoes, you must be first wearing them. Wiser than I gave him credit for!

THE SPIRIT INSIGHT

transcribed on Tuesday, 18th March 2025, at 4:30 pm

Good day to you. I wonder how many people that will read my words some day realise that the journey of life was never intended to be an easy one.

People tends to believe that they seem to have more challenges than others to deal with. Occasionally that might appear so. But nobody ever born of your world has lived a life of value without challenges along the way.

One person’s challenge might appear nothing compared to some other person’s, but challenges are part and parcel of life.

The challenges you encounter should be viewed as opportunities for you to learn. Succeed in overcoming a challenge and you’ve achieved something worthy. They will make you stronger in spirit and rounded as a person.

Of course, there are a few people that try to freeload their way through life, avoiding challenges and things they think they can’t or wont face. But life is life and everyone that lives their life to the full will have to learn to deal with the challenges they face, no matter how big or small they may be.

Your life has a purpose, as has every life. Whether its the humble seed of a plant, or the baby born with immediate challenges. The purpose is to grow strong and become better. To overcome and to progress.

Earth people have often referred to the phrase, “the more challenges a person has to overcome, the stronger they will become.” This is absolutely the way it is, and the way everyone should approach what life throws at them.

Times can seem too tough occasional. Times where you feel you can’t carry on, that everything is too much and you cant see light at the end of the tunnel. But these times will pass, and how quickly that happens depends on how quick you are prepared to pick yourself up and overcome the obstacles ahead.

The dreadful diseases that people can be presented with are awful, there’s no way of sugar-coating that. Cancers, for example, are the ultimate test of a person’s strength. Facing such challenges with the belief that you are strong enough to overcome them will work in the most powerful ways in any healing.

But even if the challenge is insurmountable, stay strong. Stay determined and keep the fire alight in your soul. It needs it and you will grow for it.

So my message today for you is this. If you think you have more than your fair share of challenges. accept that may be so, and set a course that takes you through the challenges. You have the strength and you have the courage. You have God by your side and his power will emanate through your body and soul.

Whatever your challenges are, overcome them and learn from them. There’s no way to avoid them. That is the purpose of life.

Thank you for writing my words. Goodbye.

MY AFTERTHOUGHTS

written at the time of this presentation

🔷  I’m fortunate in my life as it is at this moment. My challenges are the sort that many others would yearn to have for themselves. Sometimes I get a little depressed with how I allow trivia matters to effect me. On the grand scale of things, I’m better off than a greater percentage of my fellow humans. So it’s interesting to me that this speaker chose to use this topic for their words. I wonder, is there someone reading their words that needs to read them right now?

🔷  I don’t believe that we should allow too much guilt to affect our thinking. It is what it is, as they say. Nor do I believe that maintaining an over-supply of empathy is necessary all the times. My life, your life, our lives are how they are because of our own set of circumstances that we’ve faced. Sometimes, Jane tells me I lack empathy. The truth is occasionally I refuse to allow others’ moarning to effect me. Perhaps this is where I have much growing still to do.

🔷  The speaker’s message is very much tailored for the person facing challenges. The message is about finding the strength from within to drive yourself through whatever is facing you. There are always solutions and there’s always something different ahead of each of us. Of course, my perspective on this message is based on where I am in my life this day, and as I’ve already mentioned in the opening preamble, my perspective might be entirely different tomorrow, as might yours.

“Times can seem too tough occasional. Times where you feel you can’t carry on, that everything is too much and you cant see light at the end of the tunnel. But these times will pass, and how quickly that happens depends on how quick you are prepared to pick yourself up and overcome the obstacles ahead.”
