Artificial intelligence is already embedded in most of our daily tech gadgets, from Amazon Alexa, to the smartphones we all carry and use. Chat GPT has been around for a number of years and has developed enough now to answer most questions we can throw at it. But, how accurate is it?
I use various versions of this AI for research purposes. Acting like a trawler’s net, it scrapes all the relevant information from the world wide web and composes it into presentable articles, complete with citations, if requested.
When I use information gathered by AI methods, I have learned to cross-check everything to make sure the information is accurate. For that reason, AI is not yet accurate enough to rely on fully. In this article, I take a rather light-hearted at some of the results one can expect from an AI source, and show why the results are often wrong, bias, and downright stupid!
I have posted the questions exactly as they were worded, and the answers with as least editing as possible, (for space reasons). I would advise that you take these answers with a pinch of salt!
As you’ve now read, the reliability of the results is varied. Some questions received accurate responses, (Including question 13!) while others were biased on the side of scepticism. Gathering information using services such as Chat GPT is convenient, and a fun experience. Some experts are suggesting the services are better than Google Search, which is being slated for being too sponsor heavy. The key to using AI for information is to always ask for citations with the results. I removed them from these questions to keep the publication clean. Check those citation sources for accuracy and credibility.
Whatever you do, don’t shy away from using the AI services. They can save you a lot of time and inspire you into exploring further research. So long as you make sure the information is accurate, using AI is a pleasant, and often enlightening, experience.
