This is the eighth session of the ninth series of Lanzarote Sessions, transcribed during a break to the Canary Islands in March 2025. During our frequent visits, I sit in the power of the spirit at least once daily and allow the spirit-connect to share a message with me.

Until recently, I was always keen to watch the evening news at 6:00pm while eating my evening meal. It was like a daily fix, to be aware of whatever was going on in the world, both internationally, and locally. Like a typical old man, I’d find myself ranting at all the reports and the negative implications. Russia, Ukrain war, climate issues, appauling world leaders, government decisions, and so on.
Of course, this negative input wasn’t just coming from the television. I was tapping into social media and getting frustrated at some of the nonsense of others, ego-inflating posts from apparent friends, self-promoting stuff, forums full of people only too happy to criticise someone else’s opinion, and so on. All this input was effecting me, and not in a healthy way. So I took action to change a few things.
I decided to stop watching the news from start to finish. Yes, I still like to catch the headlines, but no longer want to give them too much time. Once I’ve caught up with whatever is going on, I switch over to Prime or Netflix and instead watch one of the dramas we’re following. (At this time, we’re going through the Prime series of ‘Blacklist’!) News still carries some importance with us, but we’re not tied into it as we once were.
On Facebook, I made a radical decision that has brought me so much peace. I deleted almost all of the friends from my profile, leaving only things that were important to me, such as Lanzarote forums and Spanish language related. Now, when I visit the Facebook platform, I’m not being faced with nonsense I don’t need, or want to read. The great thing is, nobody realises I’m not there because I wasn’t posting anything anyway!
These changes don’t result in me being out of touch, far from it. But I have now filtered what I hear, what I am faced with, and what I’m allowing to influence me. I’ve become picky about what media content matters to me. There’s an old addage that ‘no news is good news’, and I’m finding that to be a wise way to live.
I hadn’t realised until today that the speaker of this session obviously had a subliminal impact on me. Their words resonate with me.
Most of my work nowadays is about improving my spiritual awareness and self-growth. This may not, on the face of it, appear to be anything to do with mediumship, but that is not so. We need to become better people first, and better mediumship will follow.
THE SPIRIT INSIGHT

Oh the madness from your leaders. You know who I am referring to and I am aware he is not directly your leader. But leader he is and one that wealds great power that he will abuse.
People like him have always existed throughout time. Think back to all the misaligned leaders there have been in history. This is the challenge when [one] person has so much control of millions of others. That one voice shouts the loudest and others are silenced by its strength.
It is not reasonable to expect one ordinary person, such as you or your neighbours to be able to shout loud enough to make a difference. But it does not mean you can’t live your life [in] a good and proper way. In God’s eyes, that is all that is expected of you. You will always be able to adhere to personal responsible, as does every human alive. If others choose to abuse or deny their personal responsibilities, so be it. That is not on you. Nor do you hold responsibility for the actions of others. All that is expected of you is to stand tall and live your life In the best way possible.
One of the best actions a human can take is to turn their back on that which brings harm to them. If you cannot see, or cannot hear the negativity, it will not effect you.
Throughout time, leaders have come with great gusto and left with their tails between the legs. Nobody lasts forever, and while they may create a following in them presence, it’s as lasting as the morning dew.
God does not put these leaders in place, that is done only by the people. Whether that person is right or wrong in their actions, God does not judge.
The people throughout time have changed their direction through life after a great, or not-so great leader has moved on.
Consider how many ordinary people believed in the leader of Germany during the war years. Yet nowadays, nobody wants to be associated with his actions. The people grew greater and stronger, realising that the wrongs of their recent leaders weren’t good for them. The same will come around again. Leaders come, and leaders go. But people need to stand fast and do what is right for themselves and for their community.
Leaders can be found anywhere in your world. Although their intent may have been worthy and just, the power they got control of, left them delusional.
All you can do is be responsible for how you impact your community, by learning from the negativity of others, and growing beyond it. Rise to the role you have been assigned and live the best life that shines light on yourself and others. The remaining darkness will fall on those not seeing the light.
Stand strong without the need to judge yourself by others, only by your higher self.

MY AFTERTHOUGHTS
written at the time of this presentation
🔷 When this speaker started, I thought they might be talking about leaders of churches I’d recently watched in their online services, which I thought were somewhat disappointing leaders. However, the more the speaker spoke, the more I realised they were talking about our polititions. People like Mr Trump, Mr Starmer and the like, not doing the best things for their countries. Bowing to the ‘woke’ community and always trying to be overly politically correct. On that issue, I agree with the speaker.
🔷 As I mentioned in the Preamble section above, I’m not going to follow the ‘sheep’, instead doing what is right and proper for me. Rather than be fed too much negativity, I’m being more selective of what I take in, the result of which means I’m less likely to annoyed or upset with the action of others.
🔷 The final point from the speaker is a powerful one. For too long in my life I have tried hard to impress others that I had placed on a pedestal, usually without any reciprical feedback. All too often those mentors, tutors, and even friends, have only been interested in their own agenda. Nowadays, I care less what others think of my work, because I don’t do it to impress anyone other than myself. So I appreciate the speaker’s comment about living without the need to be judged by others.
