As with many precious gems, the blindness of humans’ senses can miss these small wonders. Gold nuggets of information relayed from the spirit world that offer comfort and joy.
Mediums, including myself, will be aware that some of the most precious moments in a communication from the spirit world are often found in the finest of details: a mannerism, a phrase, the way the medium is standing, and other tiny elements that offer some evidence of a continuing life for their loved ones.
My father used to say that when he told me stuff, it would often fall on deaf ears. Perhaps that was because he was telling me off for something! But whether we hear or sense something of detail is often more than a choice we willingly make. Over the years, my tutors have told me many important things, some of which I’ve made a note of in my journal and others that I just didn’t understand at the time. Either way, my ears were deaf to the detail.
The late and great Glyn Edwards, one of the finest mediums of his era, used to emphasise the importance of detail when listening to the spirit world. “So the spirit person tells you he is an engineer? Big deal.” he would quote. “Ask what sort of engineer he was. Where did he work, and on what? Without the detail, the message remains vague.”
Perhaps because of ego protection, many mediums ignore the details of their connection. Tiny details that they unintentionally filter from the message. Yet, these details often make a difference to the strength and meaning of the message.
The speaker for this session opens by revealing her name and promising to keep her chat with me light and friendly. Minutes later, in the casualness of the conversation, she reveals an incredibly powerful aspect of life in the spirit world. A real gem of information. Deaf ears won’t necessarily catch it on first reading, but as you’ll discover in the ‘Afterthoughts’, this snippet of insight is very exciting.
POST SCRIPT
The question I always ask myself during the production side of WFSIW is, did I already know the pieces of information shared with me. In this session, it is possible I might have been aware of the information she shared with me. But why would I have thought of it at that very moment when my mind was in a state of listening?
THE WFSIW SESSION
Your recent speakers have been heavy talking, and it has been decided that I should lighten things up a little for you. My name in Jenny and I was living on earth until the late 1960's. 1967 to be precise. I had to think about that for a moment.
I was always a believer. Right from when I was very young, I knew there was something more than just the one life. It was when I was in my thirties that I found the calling. Change that to had the calling, sounds better, although my way of saying it is more accurate.
There were some fabulous mediums around in those days. I had the pleasure of meeting Doris Stokes when she visited our church in Bromsgrove.
There is a danger that some believers can be a little too serious about the topic. I'm not suggesting that its all fun and games, but life this side is bliss really. In many ways it's quite normal. In other ways its remarkable what we can perceive and achieve if we put our minds together. Even in that normal sounding phrase of 'putting our minds together' is a whole way of being that words cannot describe. Imagine, you have just one voice in your head at any time. When we put our minds together we are literally of one mind with many voices. It all happens so naturally too.
People on earth often worry about the things they think alone. They worry that other people might be able to read their minds. Or they worry that their private thoughts may be heard to someone over here. Let me reassure you, the sanctity of your thoughts remains intact. It is only when your intent changes that the door to your mind is open. You should be an expert on this by now. Do you understand now how you open the doors of your mind for my voice to enter?
Yes I know you're hearing my words with your own mind's race. Wouldn't it be strange if you started hearing my female voice. You'd soon start behaving yourself, wouldn't you! The unknown is always the mystery. How we live, how we communicate, how our thought lives are achieved and so on. All great mysteries for people on earth to even start to comprehend. Its all so far removed from their existence.
For us, its all quite natural and no great mystery at all. I must have been here some time before I realised that the way I was communicating with others had changed. I hadn't noticed. That's how transitional it really is. From breathing air on earth to existing in this new world. It happens just like that.
I have been keeping an eye on some of the mediums of your generation. Some of them really do have good intentions. Mind you, there's a few that have their focuses on the wrong place too. The fame-seekers, as I call them. They have walked half the path and are sat down resting on what they've learnt so far without realising that the path ahead still waits their footsteps.
Let's not get too political. I'm here to lighten things up. How am I doing?
Yes that was a stray thought I gave you. Bacon and cheese! I think I'd have that later for my meal.
Your main guide tells me that you are often disappointed with your own progress. I can't believe you think like that. I mean, look at you now, penning my words as I speak them. There are mediums all over your planet that would love to be able to do that! Of course, they could. They just don't believe in themselves.
You have a long life ahead of you and many exacting twists and turns to come. Hold on tight and keep doing what you're doing. That goes for anyone else reading these words. Keep on keeping on.

MY AFTERTHOUGHTS TODAY

I’ve always believed that I am the best judge of my communication with the spirit world. I have nothing to gain by praising my work, other than to flatter my own ego. That said, yet again, I believe today’s session was excellent and the speaker’s words were very interesting.
The fourth paragraph contains the interesting ‘revelation’ regarding putting minds together. In one basic sense, how else would people in spirit communicate. But there is a deeper context to this that simply blows my tiny mind. How awesome must that be to be able to share the mind of others, when invited to.
The speaker revealed her name straight off. I believe that overall, the message feels like it has a female style of writing. I admire her way of talking.
Without a surname, it would be difficult to track this speaker’s presence on earth. However, as I write this, I have contacted Bromsgrove Spiritualist Church to enquire whether anyone can confirm Doris Stokes visiting. I’ll update this section if and when I have any news.
