HAPPY WITH YOUR LOT?

THE PREAMBLE

This is the tenth session of the eighth series of Lanzarote Sessions, transcribed during a break to the Canary Islands in December 2024. During our frequent visits, I sit in the power of the spirit at least once daily and allow the spirit-connect to share a message with me.

|| This summary written on 10th May 2025

Only this morning I sat with Jane and was moaning about how I am hating getting older. My bones are aching, I get tired quickly, I have a chest infection again, and I never seem to have any energy and therefore feel less motivated than I should.

Okay, so my health could be a bit better I suppose, and I could try going to bed a little earlier every night. I could cut down on the workload and use my eyes to view the world outside of my computer screens!

The irony is that while boring Jane with my ‘woe is me’ stuff, I’d forgotten where we were. It was 8:30 am and we were sat on the patio of our temporary apartment, overlooking the beautiful Atlantic sea and the comings and goings in the local harbour. The sun was starting to heat us up and we could watch the few holiday-makers starting to stroll along the prom below us. And there’s me going on about how tough life seems to be!

Here I am, on the paradise island of Lanzarote, enjoying another three weeks away from home. The fourth time in twelve months with another two long breaks to come this year. And I have the audacity to be moaning about a few aches and pains!

But isn’t that what we all do? We forget how well off we actually are and in doing so, forget what’s really important. I had no idea what the contents of this session’s speaker would be. All I knew was that I planned to get another ‘Spirit Insights’ ready this day for the Envoys of this website. So it came as a bit of a shock to read the sentiments from this speaker. The timing was immaculate and I needed to read their words.

But it’s not all about me. There’s a message in this session for everyone, of that I am certain.

When we take the time to appreciate what we have, it brings with it a satisfying and uplifting feeling. This message today had that effect on me.

THE SPIRIT INSIGHT

transcribed on Thursday, 19th December 2024, at 2:40 pm

“There comes a time in one’s life when man realises his lot!”
Now that is an opening statement for you to contemplate. But what does it mean?

Mankind has this inept desire to achieve, to chase dreams, and to acquire assets. Most of their lives, they pursue things they believe they need, and often believe they deserve. A life wasted wanting the glitter of success and the things that come with it. But there will be a time in everyone’s life when they will realise that what they have been chasing, what they have acquired, what they are worth means nothing. They will long for more time to live, more health and more peace. They will want love and to be loved.

When they review their lives they may see the holes in the fabric caused from needlessly demanding bigger and greater things. Some will reveal their lives with a sense of pride for their achievements, while others will continue to wish for more.

But ask every single one of them if they could change one aspect of their life so far, everyone of them will answer yes, because everyone has something they wished they’d done differently.

Some would wish for more time with their families and loved ones. Some would wish for better homes or smarter vehicles. Some might wish for more exotic holidays, while others might still wish for more money.

But what if they were asked about their spiritual being? What if they were asked to describe how they’d enhanced their soul’s purpose? What then would be their answers?

A few, no doubt, wouldn’t care about it until pressed for an answer. Then what would they expose?

If people were asked what qualities of life they believe to be important, using single words, you’d hear words like peace, happiness, and love, high on the choices, probably shortly followed by good health.

Is it not interesting that for a fulfilled life, man’s most important gifts are free and readily available. Peace is to be found within everyone. Peace is a state of acceptance, and of being. Peace is a decision. Along with that peace, happiness follows. Happiness in abundance and throughout their being. And with happiness there is always love. Love of life, of self and of all.

Where, I ask, do the material assets fit in all of that? How important are those things really, when peace, happiness and love are the most important aspects of life?

I will finish as I started.

” There comes a time in one’s life when man realises his lot”.

When, I ask you, when well that time be? When it’s too late and life is nearing its end on earth? Or will it be when their spirit shouts loud enough to get their attention?

Life is the greatest gift given by God. Realise your lot and welcome peace, happiness and love into it this day and always. God wants nothing more from you for you to enter his kingdom.

Goodbye.

MY AFTERTHOUGHTS

written at the time of this presentation

🔷  As I mentioned in my opening preamble, this message came at the right time for me, even though it was transcribed 141 days before this presentation. It is all too easy to take what we have for granted without giving a second thought to what we have and where we are compared with other people.

🔷  I felt like writing in the preamble that ‘I’m only human’ as an excuse for me being a miserable old git at times. But I didn’t, because those three words have no relevance and cannot be used as an excuse for our bad or untimely behaviour. It should be, ‘I’m human’ and stated with power and gust, filled with all the potential that we have inside us. So I have a few aches, big deal! I’m breathing God’s air and able to see his work in the nature around me. Is that not enough to be blessed with?

🔷  I hope that you read this session and felt uplifted by the reminder from this speaker. We have so much to be grateful for which, on the balance, far outweighs the few things that might niggle us. As someone once said, “Life is not a rehearsal.” So let us pray with gratitude and blessings for what God has given us. Our own unique set of toys, if you life.

“Happiness is in abundance and throughout your being. And with happiness there is always love. Love of life, of self and of all.”

THIS SESSION WILL BE RELEASED TO THE WEBSITE AFTER 10TH JULY

  1. After reading this message I sat pondering the content and again I felt it was answering a question that had been perplexing me for some time. A song came to mind that I hadn’t heard in many, many years. It was “Count your blessings, name them one by one”. Contentment is what one needs in life not a constant search for bigger, better, glitzier. Be content with your achievements and acknowledge your blessings such as family, friends, the beauty of nature and the more you do this the more blessings you will identify. My downfall is that I don’t do this often enough but this message from your correspondent has prompted me to start “practising what I preach”.
    Thanks Trevor.

    1. I couldn’t agree more Bill. It’s all too easy to take for granted what we have, from a position of comfort. Interestingly, the day after this article was prepared, Jane got a message from her friend’s friend stating that Judith had fallen and broken her hip, her leg and her knee. She’s in hospital undergoing a six hour operation for three broken bones. And I’m moaning about a little chest infection!
