- The Lanzarote Sessions
This is the seventh session of the eighth series of Lanzarote Sessions, transcribed during a break to the Canary Islands in December 2024. During our frequent visits, I sit in the power of the spirit at least once daily and allow the spirit-connect to share a message with me.
|| This summary written on 28th April 2025
It is my belief that everyone of us can receive communications from the other side. But I also believe that only the few will. Putting aside those people that don’t believe, or refuse to, the biggest issue is trust in one’s own abilities. I know – I’m one of those people!
The intelligence of the afterlife is beyond that which we choose to believe. Communication through verbal language, whether physically, or mentally is just one of their ways to send us messages, and the most popular way chosen by mediums. But mental mediumship relies on one big ingredient. An ingredient that is essential, and nothing to do with the communicators from the spirit world. That ingredient is self-belief.
Self-belief relies on trust and confidence. These qualities take time to establish and a change in personal expectations. Those expectations include how or what we’re expecting to hear in our mind when we believe we’ve correctly set the environment for a connection to be present. To change our personal expectations we have to learn to dismiss our own judgement as to whether there is someone connected to talk with us. The way I have overcome this issue is by assuming there is someone wishing to share a message with us.
From my summary so far, it’s clear to see that there is more than a little psychology involved. Some of the greatest tutors in the UK tried hard to get this stubborn student to accept that the connection to the spirit world was with me, encouraging me to ‘let the words flow‘ from my self-inflicting blocking mind. It took many years and triple that in workshops, practice and encouragement. I can’t recall when the penny finally dropped, but when it did, my mind became free and the messages flowed.
I don’t see the spirit speaker. I don’t always feel them either. I just trust and believe they are there and that the message I voice aloud will be, at the very least, influenced by those wishing to communicate through and with me. Once I’d stopped my mind’s noise, the people in the spirit world could speak to me using my mind as the medium. However, I still get the odd doubt or two. The speaker in this session realises that and addresses it with a message to me and to all the great mediums that haven’t yet realised their real potential.
- POSTSCRIPT
As I say so many times, and so often that it could appear repetitive, it’s the basics that make us better mediums. Again, this session is one of those that should be filed as Basics 101.
THE SPIRIT INSIGHT
transcribed on Monday, 16th December 2024, at 3:15 pm
Hello. I’ve been advised that you like a little introduction. So here I am. Before I begin my topic, I noticed when you were talking in your mind after the opening prayer. You were referring to us, or your higher spirit.
Would you mind me saying that that sounds like a lack of faith in your ability to connect with us. It sounds like you’re saying,” Oh well if there’s nobody from the spirit world to talk to me, I’ll listen to myself instead!”
Have faith dear friend. Do we ever let you down? We are always here for you, because we already know that you are going to make a link with us. Why then, would we not make the most of that opportunity to pass on a message?
This is one of the topics I’m rather passionate about. That faith you have in us being here for you, when you need us to be. And when I say you, I’m talking to you reading my words.
We know when you’re connecting and we’re always ready to make the most of it. People your side always appear to doubt the link. People seem to want us to kick them up the rear in a physical manner to let them know. Surely by now, everybody understands that that is not how this works. Our medium is your mind, hence you’re called a medium. Why do you think that word is used? You are not a medium, your mind is.
It is through the power of energy that we are able to temporarily bond with your mind’s energy and use it to talk to you. Of course, that relies largely on you giving us the freedom from your constant flow of thoughts to be able to get a word in!
You wouldn’t believe how many medium’s minds we try hard to communicate with, but fail, because of the noise they are producing from the flow of often pointless thoughts. Most are negative in form too. They create nervous energy. They create heavy energy from doubt. They create negative energy while trying to protect their egos and their fears of failing. Come on, meet us half way at least.
We are here. We always are. We always will be! One thing you won’t like when you eventually live this life, is the frustration you’ll encounter when you can’t get your voice heard by some dumpkin on earth. And then when you do connect with them, they choose to change the pureness of the message. My word. And you think its tough being a medium on earth. Just wait till you get here!
But I share that with you with more than a balance of humour you know. It’s not a perfect system, but it’s what we’ve got, and learning how to use it is fun. And so it should be for you in your form.
This is a wonderful gift that we have all inherited, to communicate beyond the vocal chords!
Now, my dear medium mind, you’ve written my words accurately and quite fast too. Your mind has stayed out of the way and given me space to add some colour. And I commend you for that.
I’ve rather enjoyed having a good chat too. I hope that when someone reads the words you’ve written for me, that they find something in them to help them along their way.
I hope they find a time and way for me to join you again. It’s been a joy.
Thank you and goodbye dearest friend.
MY AFTERTHOUGHTS
written at the time of this presentation
🔷 Years ago, I remember hearing a lesson that came from the great medium, Gordon Higginson, and one that he had passed to his students. It was in response to a question I ask my tutor regarding how long I needed to sit in the power before connecting to the spirit world. I was told that I should realise the two aspects were entirely different. Sitting in the power was intended to strengthen my relationship with myself and my understanding of my higher self. Connecting to the spirit world is the consequence of that preparation. The more frequently we sit in the power, the easier it becomes to appreciate and expect the spirit world to be connected when we ask. The two aspects are bound together, but not tied to the same timeline.
🔷 Another important aspect of mediumship comes when we naturally compare our personal mediumship with others. We are self-critical and almost always believe we’re not as good. But I have watched most of the great mediums of today work and, apart from the odd one or two, every medium gets things wrong more often than expected. The difference between those great mediums and us lesser known ones is often in their lack of focus on the wrong messages they deliver. They accept they get it wrong occasionally, and move on. Getting it wrong is an essential ingredient that all mediums should expect, deal with, and get over immediately.
🔷 The speaker refers to some people as ‘Dumkins’. I’d not heard of that term and a search of the internet only brought back one meaning. The Urban Dictionary suggests the term refers to little children. Perhaps it’s the spirit speaker showing a sense of humour, or perhaps I misheard the word and wrote what I thought I heard.
“Our medium is your mind, hence you’re called a medium. Why do you think that word is used? You are not a medium, your mind is.
