THE PREAMBLE

This is the fifteenth of the seventh series of Lanzarote Sessions, transcribed during a break to the Canary Islands in September 2024. During our frequent visits, I sit in the power of spirit at least once every day and allow the spirit connect to share a message with me.

I wonder why so many people dismiss praying, believing it to be pointless, or without any real connection to anything else but our mind.

I’ve recently chatted on this website about conversation starters, the things we can say to start a conversation with strangers. My last example was to break the silence with a statement such as. “The aroma of fish and chips on the way here made my mouth water. Do you like fish and chips?” Here’s a statement you’d have to pick your timing to discuss in a conversation. “When do you think you last prayed?”

What do you think the results would be of a survey asking that question? You’d expect it to reflect that most people would say they haven’t prayed for a long time. Some would consider praying to be associated with some form of religion. Others fear declaring they frequently pray as being seen as weird or different. The problem is that praying is deeply connected with religious practices. Church-goers, Christians and worshippers all pray. Bin men or builders don’t. Electricians or builders don’t.

That’s not entirely true, of course. All types of people pray, which has nothing to do with their profession. Truth is, neither does religious creed or dogma, whether a Roman Catholic or a Scientologist. Praying is a detached action that works without any associations being a requirement. Another surprising truth is that more people pray than might care to admit.  To understand my point, you first need to define what a prayer is at its core.

A prayer is nothing more than chatting with a source other than ourselves. It only needs one prerequisite to work: an intent. When I was taught to pray in my early years, all prayers started with “Dear God.” That was the intent set. Whatever followed was the prayer. But even that opening is not required. Not everyone believes in God as they would define it.  The only rule of praying is to have an intent, and that doesn’t always have to be a deliberate thought.

The absolute truth about prayer is that more people pray in some form than we might initially consider every day of our lives. If it were possible to read a transcript of every thought thread in our woken hours, I am sure there would be many examples of prayers within the nonsensical thoughts. We don’t realise we’re doing it. A thought to our higher self, a wish or yearning, a desire or dream, probably contains a prayer to a source other than our ordinary self.

Today’s speaker makes another revelation about praying that we might not have considered. At first, it seems odd, yet it makes sense when you consider it.

The most important thing we could learn is that praying has nothing to do with religion. It’s a personal action and a conversation with a higher source, such as our own spirit. Once we establish that, then we can start to appreciate and harness the power of prayer.

THE SPIRIT INSIGHT

Thank you for leading us in prayer. I believe you heard us all reciting it aloud.

That’s another thing that people on earth would give little thought to – people in our world praying. Of course we do. Why shouldn’t we? We’re not exactly in heaven, as people tend to define it. We’re continuing our individual lives in an alternative state of being.

We too, retain respect for the Divine, the God, the source, or whatever you’re comfortable calling it. As we tell people on earth so many times, life continues here as if nothing changed.

There were changes, obviously. But the way we have always lived our life is much the same, with a few automatic adjustments within us to adapt to this environment.

We’re not a materialistic world. The need for things no longer exists. It’s the same when people on earth come back from a shopping spree. They’re all shopped out. We’re always “all shopped out”.

We’re sometimes asked if we watch television or movies, or listen to the radio and so on. The plain answer is that we don’t need to. Life, in that sense, is different. We have no need for filler entertainment. We are always contented. Some of you might consider that boring or dull. Well dear friend, you’ve been away from home for a number of days, haven’t you? Have you felt the need to watch television, or listen to a radio? Are you missing the experience. I hear you. No.

As I said, our lives here are fulfilled. We don’t need to worry about running out of energy or sleeping. It would serve no purpose. We do, however, spend time in silence and in a sort of state of rest, in the same fashion a lizard does, or a cat.

Everyone here loves life and feels blessed to have one. Some people, when they arrive here first, get a mix of extreme excitement, mixed with tears and emotions. But that state passes quickly and the way of life here soon becomes quite normal.

So when mediums pray, it would pay them well to listen to their inner spirit, and occasionally they will be able to hear their people this side praying with them, word for word.

Its sad when people on earth grieve about death as they think of it. That death does not exist. Let me repeat that – death does not exist.

Thank you for the prayer and do have a lovely day where you are.

Amen.

MY AFTERTHOUGHTS

written at the time of this presentation

🔷  I always include The Lord’s Prayer at the beginning of my preparation for sitting with the pen. It’s the first thing I say fully in my mind. I say it with intent and make sure to hear myself saying it. That is usually followed by a request to the spirit world regarding my expectations from the following session. This is so integral to the exercise of inspired writing that I would feel less connected without it.

🔷  While reciting the Lord’s Prayer on this occasion, I became aware that those in the spirit world were joining me and saying it aloud.

🔷 I believe the power of prayer is one of the most undervalued aspects of our lives. However, our first challenge is not in getting others to pray, but instead educating them as to what a prayer is.

“That’s another thing that people on earth would give little thought to – people in our world praying. Of course, we do. Why shouldn’t we? We’re not exactly in heaven, as people tend to define it. We’re continuing our individual lives in an alternative state of being.”
