I’m one of those people. I’ve always thought that the life we have here on earth with a body living in a real world has to be the ultimate way to live. Even though there are medical issues to deal with, financial problems, social difficulties, and many other day-to-day parts of life to come to terms with, at least I’m alive.

In the same light, nobody wants to die, at least not in the way we generally view it. So naturally, we avoid death and talking about it. We are built to survive. That is our purpose on earth. Our thinking shapes life and death as polar opposites, like black and white. We live to avoid the other option for as long as we can. 

Over recent times, I have changed my views on this topic. I hadn’t realised so, until speakers such as the one in this session, reassure me that there is nothing to fear in death. Why, because it doesn’t exist as such. Death, as most people consider it, is merely a phase of transition from one way of living, to another. In the next life, we continue to live, just using a different model, so to speak.

Just as a side note, the speaker for this session is the same one as I had the pleasure of listening to in the previous session. On that occasion, their words were powerful and I was excited by them. But I interruptions to contend with and the speaker had to abandon the session. I don’t have any awareness of who is going to speak, nor do I have any known control of their topic. Truth is, when I transcribe a session and close the notebook, I pretty much forget about it altogether and rarely maintain a memory of the content.

So I was delighted when that very speaker returned to finish off what they’d started to talk about on the previous occasion. And what wonderfully comforting words they are. Perhaps we should all be viewing the prospect of death as quite the opposite – the beginning of a new opportunity.
