- The Lanzarote Sessions
This is the seventh session of the ninth series of Lanzarote Sessions, transcribed during a break to the Canary Islands in March 2025. During our frequent visits, I sit in the power of the spirit at least once daily and allow the spirit-connect to share a message with me.
|| This summary written on 4th July 2025 | 114 days after session
I love being retired! Apart from all the obvious benefits, having no schedules determined by outside influences is wonderful. But don’t get me wrong, I’m busier than I was when I worked all day, every day driving hundreds of miles around this country.
The difference, of course, is that nowadays I do what I want to do, when I want to do it. I have a friend that retired a few months ago as well. He had always worried about retirement and gave the impression that without the purpose of going to work in his life, he would become lost and without motivation.
We were chatting recently and I asked him how he was enjoying his retirement. I had expected him to declare he was missing the routine of travelling to work, doing a day’s work, and coming back home, after a day of achieving things for his employer. I thought he’d be depressed and without purpose in his life. I was wrong, but not quite in the same way as I expected!
He was very happy not having to go to work anymore and declared he didn’t miss it for a moment. Now he gets up when he wants, goes for short walks, reads, watches loads of stuff on telly, and is content with his life. Unlike me, he doesn’t have hobbies as such. He’s not technically-minded and doesn’t own many gadgets. But he is happy. Of course, his wife has a slightly different opinion of him being home all day, not doing anything useful!
My father retired after 5o years of working and filled his life with DIY and things he loved to do. Unfortunately he crossed to the other side after just a few years, at the age of seventy. Thinking about it, I’ve not met too many people that weren’t glad to be retired. There’s a myth that suggests retired people get bored and yearn to be back at work, claiming they miss the company of people, the work, and the disclipline. I don’t know, but those types are far and few between!
Like many others of my age, I openly declare, with a false sense of knowing, that I’ve too much to achieve to have time to get bored and die! If only the core of that statement were true! Truth is, we simply don’t know when we’re going to leave this life. But, until that moment comes, I’m too busy to worry about it!
- POSTSCRIPT
Being busy, as I am, does mean that the matter of looking after my health doesn’t always get the priority time it needs. This session’s speaker reminds us that looking after ourselves needs to be at the forefront of our scheduling, even in retirement!
THE SPIRIT INSIGHT
transcribed on Tuesday, 11th March 2025, at 3:45 pm
Hello. May I say it’s hardly surprising you’re feeling tired. You are like far too many other people that believe you have too much to do. Do you not understand that your wellbeing and your health should always be your first consideration?
We used to use the phrase, “burning a candle both ends doesn’t achieve more. It just burns for less time”. Think about that, why don’t you.
When your body is refreshed and recharged, more can be achieved. Although I’m addressing this medium, I’m talking through him to all of you. Trying to do too much will not help you in the long term. As I said, your only concern, that should be your first consideration, is how your body is feeling.
Mediums are terrible at looking after themselves. Most go out and do a days work, before they return home and quickly get ready to go back to work as a medium. Mediums do a noble deed, but as this medium knows, it’s not always easy and puts a lot of stress into your body.
The rule you should abide by is fifty percent work to fifty percent rest. That would make you more efficient, more alert, and more able to achieve greater things.
There is this terrible belief that if a person isn’t working, they are somehow lazy. Don’t believe it. Working smart is better than working hard. How many other phrases refer to too much work and not enough rest?
A tired medium is a nuisance. Everything is harder for us then too. You’d be surprised how many mediums we work with that are tired from the off. How is that useful?
Now, I know my medium is going to sleep when I’m finished talking through him, and I’m aware that many of you don’t have that benefit. So I say to you, make time for yourself. Learn to do nothing more. Call it recharging, or recovering, or refreshing, or anything you like. And do it regular.
How many of you have sat in the power for meditation and ended up nodding off because you were tired? Your body is telling you something. Sitting in your power is best done when you’re wide awake and refreshed. If sitting in the power is making you tired, your body is trying to tell you it needs to rest.
Okay, I just stopped talking to my medium then for thirty of your seconds. His mind went blank. Thankfully, he was disciplined and waited for me to start again. But them have been many times when he has thought periods of silence meant the end of a session. Why? Because he was overly tired and wanted to end it.
We’ll work with anyone that is prepared to work with us, of course we will. We want to share our messages through each of you. But those same messages are with more clarity when you, the receiver, are alert, focussed and in the right state of mind.
That is my lecture to you today. Ask yourself, are you tired and what are you going to do about it? As you so regularly say,” A dead hero is dead”. Being a hero and working all the hours you can is leading you to be [being] that dead hero.
I challenge you to take more time to consider yourself and your wellbeing. Being tired all the time is hurting your body and your spirit.
I’ve said my piece [peace?]. Take heed. You can still enjoy life and get stuff done. There you have it. Now – will you listen? Will you learn from my words? Will you act on them? I think you should and you’ll thank me later!
My time is up and it has been a pleasure relaying these words this day in time.
God bless each of you.

MY AFTERTHOUGHTS
written at the time of this presentation
🔷 I can never work out whether I’m tired from all the work I’ve achieved in a day, or whether I’m tired because I’m not as young as I used to be and my body needs a rest. Mind you, I also get some pleasure from my afternoon ‘powernaps’. By the time I need a nap, I have a heavy and tired feeling that dominates my thinking. Whatever is happening, I always feel refreshed after the afternoon nap and I know that having it will sustain my body for working late into the night, as I do most nights!
🔷 I knew the phrase about burning the candle both ends, but I never considered that it just means the light lasts half the time. Interesting reflection on the old saying. Also the way the speaker suggests that a dead hero is dead, as if to say, what’s the point of that! I do like the way this speaker used my vocabulary to the full and worded his message in a way that I’d have written it, even though of course, I didn’t as such.
🔷 When I was preparing this publication, I added the word [peace] after the speaker said, “I’ve said my piece”. I always believed that the correct idiom was supposed to be peace. So I checked with Gemini! It appears that this is another case of us humans taking two phrases and mixing them! The speaker was correct, I was wrong. The reason was because we often mix it with a similar phrase ‘Hold your peace’. There you have it! Trivia but to me important because when I transcribed those words, I did so as the speaker influenced me to and did not correct what I’d believed to be an error in choice of word piece/peace! These are the details that matter to me when doing this work.
“We’ll work with anyone that is prepared to work with us, of course we will. We want to share our messages through each of you. But those same messages are with more clarity when you, the receiver, are alert, focussed and in the right state of mind. “
